Market Background

Compared to Destination Canada’s other target markets, French travellers are more likely to visit Canada during the winter period of November-February. However, the peak period is still May to October. About 70% of French travellers would use a travel agent when booking a trip to Canada. Some key activities of interest in Canada include hiking and nature parks.

Generally, French travellers prefer to visit Canada as a fully independent touring trip (43%), rather than independent touring trips with guided excursions (19%), or fully escorted or guided group tours (17%).

For more information on ongoing travel recovery and anticipated visitation from France in 2023, please refer to Destination Canada’s latest Tourism Outlook.
