Destination Canada Welcomes New Senior Vice President, Industry Advancement & Corporate Secretary

 

We are pleased to announce that Caroline SéguinExternal Link Title has joined Destination Canada as our new Senior Vice President, Industry Advancement & Corporate Secretary.  

 

This role leads our Industry Advancement Team, overseeing efforts to bring together diverse stakeholders from across the sector, to advance the objectives of our recently launched 2030 Strategy.

Caroline, working closely with Destination Canada’s senior leadership, will steward our work in identifying sector challenges, support policy development, lead cross-governmental initiatives to enhance the sector’s global competitiveness, and advance powerful communications strategies - important work that will serve to highlight the economic and social value of tourism, strengthening Canadians’ support for the industry. 

Also serving as Destination Canada’s Corporate Secretary, Caroline will be responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of board governance, ensuring compliance, and enhancing governance processes.

Caroline is an accomplished public policy professional with extensive experience across all three levels of Canadian government. In her most recent role as Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, she oversaw the development and implementation of Canada’s $2.3 billion Indo-Pacific Strategy, aiming to deepen our relationships in the region and expand Canada's economic and diplomatic influence.

Much of her work has focused on the interconnection between tourism promotion, job creation and regional economic growth. Her experience spanned various federal ministries including Global Affairs Canada, Economic Development, Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie, and Heritage Canada. In 2019, Caroline was deeply involved in the development of the Canadian government's tourism policy, Creating Middle Class Jobs: A Federal Tourism Growth Strategy. She has also served in the Office of the Premier of Ontario and the Office of the Mayor of Ottawa.

Caroline has extensive international experience, participating in trade and diplomatic missions throughout Europe, India, China, Japan, southeast Asia, Africa and the United States. 

A native of Casselman, Ontario, Caroline is a proud Francophone and lives in Ottawa with her Sheepadoodle, Jack.
